Universal Pictures (http://www.universalpictures.com/) are based in New York and Hollywood and was set up by German, Jewish immigrant, Carl Laemmle. Universal Pictures now responsible for a huge amout of films such as American Pie, Beethoven, Casper, Jurrassic Park, Halloween II and Happy Gilmore.
Working Title films (http://www.workingtitlefilms.com/) is a British film production company based in London. It was founded by Tim Bevan and Sarah Radclyffe in 1982, producing feature films and television productions. Productions of theirs include About a Boy, Billy Elliot, Bridget Jone's Diary, Bridget Jone: Edge of Reason, Love Actually, Notting Hill and Wimbledon. WT2 makes films with a budget of $5m or less.
Warner Brothers (www.warnerbros.co.uk/main/homepage/homepage.html) is an American producer for film and television that considers $16.5m to be low budget. It was founded by Jewish immigrants from Poland, Jack, Sam, Harry and Albert Warner. Sam and Jack produced films, whereas their brothers, Harry and Albert handled finance and distribution. Warner brothers now owns television programs such as Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Charmed and makes films such as Harry Potter and The Matrix. Generally, their films are aimed at young, male film fans with and interest in sci-fi and action.
My own opening sequence to a thriller would be low budget and not mainstream, therefore I would not produce it with Warner Brothers, WT2 would be a more suitable company to use, however they are not renowned for making thrillers. I would more likely choose to make it with Warp Films, which make more serious, low key films at a lower budget.
