Meaning:
The film will follow the story of the apple, from the tree to the product. It will also explore a sense of nostaligia that people, young and old, get from apples. For instance we will include people of all ages and encourage personal thoughts and feelings within our interviews.
Personal Interest:
Our interest in this subject comes from the accessibility and simplicity of the apple that makes us proud to be British. It also creates room for humour by interviewing people of all ages.
Problems:
A particulr hurdle we may encounter is inconsistency in the weather, to avoid this we intend to get the majority of filming done at the same time to avoid any problems with continuity.
The Bigger Picture:
Our documentary extract will be part of a bigger film and will be situated in the conclusion. The majority of the larger film will explore the production of cider and show a contrast in pple products and how they affect everyone of all ages, however our extract will show the more domestic side to apples with apple crumble making and an interview with a member of the older generation. Our documentary would be shown on channel two at 7 O Clock to make it accessible to all the family (although our target audience is 16-35). It would be a standalone film that would be aired in late summer/autumn time to celebrate the diversity of the apple at a relevant time.
Style:
Our film will be mainly observational, documenting different types of people's attitude towards the apple and how they use them, for instance by showing the contrast in cider and apple crumble and who consumes them. Other aspects of our film will be experimental, involving a time lapse of a decaying apple and following a physical journey from the orchard to the pub.
