Ancillary Task - Magazine Article
In making our magazine article, we considered first the content and tone of the article, deciding to use references to the film such as "Apples can be used in a variety of ways..." and "That's the Way the Apple Crumbles" within the title. This kept it consistent with a West Country feel to it which we also reflected in the imagery, for instance: "grab a cuppa, put your feet up and watch this heart-warming representation of the South West". Most significantly have we thought about the presentation of the article, using colours and fonts in keeping with our natural, country theme. We also used photoshop to brighten the colour of the apple situated in the middle of the article in order to make it stand out and simply make the article more visually appealing. The film strip along the right hand side also automatically tells the reader that the article is about a film and we have included screen shots from the documentary to make the reader interested in watching the documentary when it is televised. The 'Did You Know?' box at the bottom of the page sumarises the intentions of the documentary, to inform. It also gives the reader some background information into apples and therefore more of a reason to watch the documentary. The font has been kept simple throughout the bulk of the article so as not to distract the reader and it makes it easier to read, however the font in the title and introduction are more interesting to make them stand out and encourage the potential audience to read on.
